Fashion- Hotpants

60's & 70's hotpants are back, as it happens in fashion, everything that goes around comes around. And I love them. As I was shopping for new year presents I couldn't help but indulged myself with presents for me, including hotpants, colourful tights to go with them, t-shirt, belt, etc.
I am not sure if hotpants are originally from the 60's or 70's (I wasn't around then), and I could not find clear information about it, but if you know and you are still around you can enlighten me.
Girls, you must have one of these, with the boots and different types of tights; the high waist belts are also a must have and very handy.

Well, tomorrow I'll be in my suit looking very serious for a big event for which I will be translating and top officials speaking. So, no hotpants tomorrow...

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all!

Hope all of you had a wonderful time as I did last night. I was invited to a house party arranged by a friend of mine, and had great fun playing games, meeting new people, eating too much (as we should all do in the new year's night), had a proposal (happens to me every so often), and so on... The great thing about gathering such a group is that you get to discover little secrets of people you barely know, and you give away yours, and it's okay, it's fun.. Having had a great night, and breakfast at beach in Besiktas, we checked the paper for the lottery tickets we bought as a tradition, but I hit a blank one, well two. I am back home now, searching for hangover remedies as I feel a little dehydrated, and dizzy. Well, the best one is to drink lots of water I guess.

Photos to come later, if I receive them..

New Year, New Page

I have been wanting to change the blog apperance for some time, as I gave a long break to writing, and wanted a new drive to continue writing, thanks to the encouragements of a dear friend I am back on.

With the coming of the New Year, I will open a new page in life, as with my blog, and continue with new inspirations, new hopes, to the new year.

Happy New Year to everyone...

A friend of my friend at work passed away today. 35, single, parents living in the U.S., she was living in Turkey, had no illness, nothing, healthy, and just knocked down dead, just like that. She was alone when she died, no relatives in Turkey, just her friends...

The news came as a shock to her friends, and us even though we did not know her. It was so sad. And once more it reminded us how short life is. It is too short to spend it in a hassle, getting frustrated, or not respecting others and their feelings. I think we should think twice before we let those negative emotions eat into us, it is just not worth it, its too short a life to feel mad...

Friday, 21 September 2007

Back home after a 2hour traffic congestion due to Ramadan, had a good meal, happy to be back home and I was just watching Gilmore Girls in Cnbc-e, as it was on and just started, and the story totally got me... (I love the analogy that one of the characters make).

There is this girl, Lorelai, who has been with a guy called Luke for some time, and he is never ready for committment. Then comes a time when she is tired of waiting and gives him the ultimatom, but he still doesn't do anything different that he has been doing, he doesn't fight for her and she has to leave him. And they split. Everybody around her tells her that couples fight and things happen but they will come back together, etc... But she says no, this is it (because she knows).

As she is talking to another friend, here is the quote:

Lorelai: (trying to convince Sookie that her and Luke are truly over) No, you don't get it. I need it to be over, I need it to be over, because I can't take this anymore. Yes, I love Luke, and yes, I wanted to marry Luke, but I-I-I didn't want a life seperate from Luke and that's all he could give me. I don't want that. If I'm gonna be with Luke, I want to be with Luke and he didn't get it, and I waited, God, I waited. It's like Luke is driving a car, and I just wanna be in the passenger seat, but he's locked the door and, so I have to hold onto the bumper. You know, I'm not even asking him to open the door for me, just leave it unlocked, and say come in, but no he - he didn't do that. So, I'm hanging onto the bumper, and life goes on and the car goes on and I get really badly bruised, and am hitting potholes, and it hurts, I mean it hurts. So yesterday I had to let go of the bumper, because it hurts too much - it hurts too much.
Sookie: (realizing the gravity of the situation) Okay.

End of quote.

As for me, I am still holding on to the bumper, that's why it still hurts, I need someone to open the door for me and let me in...

Watch it if you can get the episode, here is the link, including the quotes:

Stepford Wives

I wanted to share this photo as I totally felt like a Stepford Wife in that dress :) Heh he...

Effie & Nimrod is here

It was Effie and Nimrod's first day in Istanbul yesterday and I took them to see a bit of popular places, like Beyoglu and Taksim, and also delightful corners like the Tunnel area and the lovely cafe's there, and a must see, Grand Bazaar and Corn Market in Eminönü.

No need to say much as Effie did all the work and uploaded the photos, so see the following link for photos:
